Hypnotic Poison is this blog's namesake, though it isn't my favorite perfume. Here is my Fragrantica review from '24 (don't mind my writing style, which hasn't improved or changed at all.): "Snap the cap on a can of A&W root beer, the carbonized air that vaults out is a lot like how Hypnotic Poison smells ! Sophisticated root beer float. I almost expected my skin to be sticky where the pop had spilt. I don't get play-dough so much. After a bit, the pop goes flat & smooth, dark, liquid vanilla slinks center stage. The whole root beer thing isn't a dig; I like it ! Other people have characterized it as licorice, which is perhaps more charitable. By some turns, it almost seems like mouthfuls of rich fruit. All with a spoon of vanilla :] Hypnotic indeed ! I kept sniffing my wrists trying to figure it out.

It doesn't project on me. I have to bring my nose in close enough to feel my own body heat to pick it up. What it doesn't do in sillage, it does twofold in longevity. I think that this is more of a night scent, Which makes the intimate projection a little funny. I would love to smell this on another woman. I'm actually not sure that winter would be a good season for this, at least not in the way that it manifests on me ! It is a vanilla, but not an insulating, fluffy one (a la Kenzo Amour)

Overall an interesting fragrance. I can understand why it is so beloved, & a bit why it is so beloathed. I got a decant of this from theperfumedcourt for 3.97 USD"

I'll also add that I think the other poisons are worth trying if you are one of the many, many ladies who adore HP. I am using "ladies" like "guys" here. OG Poison at least as it gives you some context. A lot of Dior scents are unexpectedly herbal & earthy-sweet, very compelling, very smooth. I call it an apothecary accord in my head, hehe. For many nights I wore this to bed while reading Patti Smith's M-Train, so this scent reminds me of that. It's a slinky, wet, root-y vanilla extract. Yeah, root beer.

Parfum d'Ete is one of my favorites. Here is my Fragrantica review from '25: "o, so lovely. The most beautiful unnatural dewy green. It's definitely synthetic, a kind of mild lotion/sunscreen angle, which I really like. Subtly sweet & indolic by way of florals. Clean sheer lime green watercolor. This fragrance lasts about 5-6 hours on me. Quite close to the skin, though carried easily by a breeze. Fem-androgynous. This is one of my all-time favorites, spring/summer perfection. I got a 1mL sample of this, Amour, & Flower on Ebay for 33.11 USD (kind of a ripoff now that I've purchased more fragrances lol)"
